Engine
All L200 variants are powered by Mitsubishi's 4D56 2.5-litre turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine, featuring 16 valves driven by dual overhead camshafts and a common-rail direct injection system for precise fuel delivery, lowering consumption and emissions. Warrior and Barbarian models are equipped with a high-power version, for enhanced performance.
5-Speed Automatic
This 5-speed unit provides smooth gear changes and enhanced fuel economy during motorway driving. Its electronic control can adapt to your driving style, while the Sports Mode facility offers clutchless manual gearshifting for instant response.
Easy Select 4WD
Easy Select offers three drive modes: 2H (2WD High range) must be selected for normal highway driving; 4H (4WD High range) can be engaged at speeds up to 62mph when extra traction is needed on snow, sand or dirt roads; 4L (4WD Low range) is ideal for serious off-road driving, such as fording streams and climbing steep muddy banks. The vehicle must be stationary when transferring to 4L.
Super Select 4WD
Also found in the Shogun, the highly capable Super Select system provides the L200 with four drive modes: 2H (2WD High range) gives quieter running and better fuel consumption during normal on-road driving: 4H (4WD High range), selectable at speeds up to 62mph, distributes torque between front and rear axles via a centre differential (CD) with viscous coupling unit (VCU) - the latter permits safer on-road driving in slippery conditions; 4HLc (4WD High range with CD locked) improves traction on snow, sand or dirt roads by distributing torque equally front and rear; 4LLc (4WD Low range with CD locked) provides greater torque for extreme off-road conditions.
Rear Differential Lock
Engaged via a dashboard-mounted switch, this locks the differential so that both rear wheels turn together, a superior method of providing extra traction for coping with extreme off-road conditions.
M-ASTC (Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control)
Active Stability Control - If sensors located throughout the vehicle detect unstable movement, such as lateral slippage, the Stability Control function automatically controls the brakes and engine output to stabilise the vehicle.
Traction Control - If the sensors detect wheel slip when starting on slick surfaces, such as a snow-covered road, the Traction Control function automatically brakes the slipping wheel and governs engine output to enable a smoother start.
ABS with EBD
Lateral slippage can easily occur if the rear wheels lock up due to braking hard on slippery surfaces or braking hard when at high speeds. ABS suppresses this by controlling the brakes' hydraulic pressure. EBD adjusts the rear wheels' braking force to the number of occupants and load to deliver braking force that is ideally matched to almost any situation.
Suspension
The L200’s front suspension system is adapted from the Shogun, double wishbones and coil springs providing superior ride comfort and surefooted cornering. At the rear, tough rigid elliptic leaf springs are fitted, to ensure the one-tonne payload can be safely supported.
Walkinshaw Performance Sport Pack Upgrade
Dramatically improving both ride and handling, in the optional upgrade a sophisticated five-link rear suspension layout and coil springs replace the L200’s standard system. To this are added Koni performance dampers at the front and rear, and polyurethane performance suspension bushes for increased axle control.
Steering
The L200 adopts the Shogun's rack & pinion steering system, providing a class-leading turning circle and better steering accuracy than a traditional recirculating ball system.
Cruise Control
Cruise control, accessed via convenient steering wheel mounted buttons, allows more relaxed driving on longer journeys when traffic levels allow by letting you remove your feet from the pedals. It is cancelled and driver control regained instantly when either the clutch or brake pedals are pressed.
Reversing Camera
Engaging reverse gear activates a rear-mounted camera which relays a colour image of the area immediately behind the vehicle to the screen of the Kenwood multimedia unit, allowing parking manoeuvres to be made with confidence. It also makes reversing onto a trailer's tow hitch much simpler and once on the road, a special split-screen feature allows the satellite navigation to be displayed whilst monitoring trailer behaviour during towing.
RV Meter
The central LCD screen displays a range of useful driving information, including fuel economy, average speed, compass, clock and external temperature.
Bluetooth
The high-performance Parrot Bluetooth interface system, integrated with the Kenwood multimedia unit, allows safer hands-free operation of a compatible mobile phone whilst driving, employing voice recognition technology. It offers a host of advanced features, and is capable of storing the phone books from up to five compatible handsets for even greater convenience.
