'Mitsubishi's Colt has steamed straight in at the top of the supermini game'

'The 1.5-litre is an absolute corker. With 107bhp, it pulls strongly in every gear,
and is excellent on the motorway....it makes the new Colt into something very special
indeed.'

'Lots of small cars have plenty of rear room these days and a few even throw in a
bit of MPV versatility. However few do it all as well as the Colt in such a compact
overall package while remaining such a delight to drive. This practicality doesn't
come cheap though.'

'The styling is certainly competitive. It isn't as adventurous as the Micra, but
the Colt is a good match for the Jazz. Indeed, its profile resembles that of the
Honda... Inside the Mitsubishi is even more attractive. The facia is smart, especially
the funky centre stack... its party piece is very much the seating arrangement...
The baby Mitsubishi is an impressive package - one we think is well worth a flutter.'

'The Colt is a nifty confection of well-integrated lines and still hugs the road nicely.
Good looking, safe, good to drive and as useful as a Swiss Army knife. Oh, and good
value too. There. You've heard of the Colt now. And it deserves remembering.'

'The newcomer is spacious and fun - so the Colt has become a rival to the excellent
Honda Jazz in terms of all-round competence.'

'Inside, we're looking for a mix of functionality, style and space. On every count,
the Colt is better than the rest. The Colt feels much more inviting, like a small MPV.
The Mitsubishi takes top spot by making the best job of fulfilling our conflicting
demands. It's stylish, modern, well packaged and fun to drive. It's better value than
the Smart and to our eyes looks better too. It's the most complete car and as such
deserves to succeed. The Colt wins.'

'It's smooth, frugal and ridiculously roomy - but its best characteristic is something
which comes as standard with the best superminis: simplicity.'

'The gearbox is excellent, seats comfortable, driving position terrific and the interior
design - with pale blue translucent plastics surrounding the control knobs and a nifty
divider in the central console that forms a rack of CDs - looks as if it could have
been lifted out of a groovy young person's flat.'

'It's a proper comfortable five-seater... on top of that it's versatile. The rear-bench
is split 60/40 and each half slides, folds, tumbles and completely removes. With both
sides out the car is transformed into a flat-floored van. The front seats are
comfortable, too, with a height adjustable steering wheel. The A pillar quarterlights
effectively remove any blindspots.'

'There's a pleasing crispness to the Colt's design. one has clearly been given free
reign to come up with something truly original - making the Colts one of the most
pleasing interiors of any of the cars we've tested so far this year. It is bold, fun
and contemporary. The plastics used score well on quality and texture, the seats are
comfortable and supportive, and the detailing is superb.
There's not much to complain about and much to praise... pleasing about town swagger:
the ride is commandingly high, the gear change smooth and the handling is sharp and
responsible... head room is generous... sufficient leg room and versatile rear seats.'

'...injecting character - something the new Colt has in spades... Colt's cabin is well
screwed together and displays a level of upmarket attention to detail... it's superb,
offering impressive levels of practicality - class-leading legroom and headroom... The
Colt oozes character in proportion to its interior space.'
